Tips
If you bought a beautiful Jieldé lamp at a brocante in France or elsewhere and it does not work or you want to have a B22 Bayonet fitting replaced with a “normal” E27 fitting I can supply parts. All original Jieldé parts I have in stock and otherwise I have addresses in France where I can buy the right parts. I also get a lot of questions about the Jieldé lamp, how it works and repair questions. Some answers to questions can be found on this page. Any questions about the Jieldé lamp, feel free to ask via 06, whatsapp or at jan@jieldelamp.nl
Replacing an aluminum label explained step by step:
Place a piece of hardwood in the vise with a hole in the wood the size of the head of the rivet.
The hole in the wood allows the head of the rivet to stay in place and stay nice and round when riveted.
For riveting, use a bolko hammer or a hammer with a small head if possible.
Place the aluminum label with the two rivets on the neck of the bulb. Make sure that the text faces the bulb. Secure the label with tape and press the tape around the rivets firmly.
Using the bolko hammer, tap the rivet on the inside of the neck flat so that no unevenness can be felt in the neck. Make short vertical taps with the hammer.
Done, two nice rivets with a nice round head.
Connecting new switches for in tapered base or socket holder:
Large switch for in the conical base of the Jieldé, type Loft.
At the switch left connect the brown wires using a welding clamp and the blue wires go to the two connectors on the switch.
At the switch right Connect the two black wires from the switch to the blue wires with two wire terminals, connect the brown wires to each other with a 3rd wire terminal.
Small switch for in the socket holder of the Jieldé, type Loft.
Masking the BOL to paint the exterior:
Remove the aluminum label, taping it never succeeds 100%.
Cover the round handle completely with tape.
Tape half the edge of the Globe all around with tape.
Now tape the entire inside with wide tape.
Stuff the neck with a cloth or paper and make sure the small holes in the neck are also covered.
Now the outside of the Sphere can be sprayed in the desired color.
Machine gray:
RAL 7011
Olive green:
RAL 6003
Vespa green: prescription.
Masking the BOL to paint the inside:
Tape all the small holes in the neck well with tape.
Again, completely cover the round handle with tape.
Now tape half of the edge from the outside all around with tape.
Now tape the entire outside of the Sphere with wide tape.
Again, stuff the neck with a cloth or paper and make sure the small holes in the neck are also covered.
Now the inside can be sprayed with a so-called “Radiator Paint” due to the possible high temperature of the bulb.
Setting arms.
When the arms need to be repositioned, first loosen the cap nut (B) and then the fixing bolt (A). The bolt tightens the two coupling pieces together. After the new position is reached, first tighten bolt again and then the cap nut, so the cap nut is only a “capping” of the bolt.
